Taylor Swift, Karlie Kloss and Dianna Agron: Taylor Swift puts decades-long Gaylor rumour to rest with single note issued to fans on 1989 (Taylor’s Version) album prologue

Taylor Swift has dispelled an almost decade-long rumour with a single note.

The missive to her fans was included in her 1989 (Taylor’s Version) album prologue, which is being released today, thanking them for their dedication to the album and detailing the inspiration behind it.

But it was a select paragraph that caught the eagle eyes of fans who have long speculated about exact nature of the relationships between Swift and her former friends Karlie Kloss and Dianna Agron.

“It became clear to me that there was no such thing as casual dating,” Swift wrote in the letter, which has made the rounds on Twitter.

“If I was seen with him, it was assumed I was sleeping with him,” the note continues.

“I assumed I could fix this if I simply changed my behaviour. I swore off dating and decided to focus only on myself. My music. My growth. My female friendships.”

“If I only hung out with my female friends,” Swift, 33, continued. “People couldn’t sensationalise or sexualise that – right? I would learn later on that people could and people would.”

Swift’s 1989 era was notorious for her ‘girl gang’, a group of friends whom the singer did seemingly everything with.

The group would constantly share images together, sing each other’s praises and show their support for one another via social media and attending each other’s events.

In the years since 1989‘s original 2014 release, she’s revealed that the reason she heavily promoted her female friendships was because prior to her 1989 era, all the media wanted to report about her was who she was dating.

It’s no secret that in the earlier days of her success, the public chose to narrow Swift down to nothing more than the girl dating whatever famous beau she had at the time.

She was shamed for the number of songs she wrote about her relationships, for the number of relationships she was in, and for what some deemed as an ability to move from one to the next ‘too quickly.’

So, as she writes in her letter released earlier today, Swift made the decision to swear off dating and promote her female friendships instead. And that’s when the ‘Gaylor’ rumours started.

There were two women from Swift’s friendship group that she was rumoured to be dating, one was Agron, 37, and the other was model Kloss, 31.

Her relationship with Agron was no where near as scrutinised as her relationship with Kloss, however many believe that the track Wonderland on 1989 is about the Glee star.

Swift’s relationship with Kloss was publicly her closest friendship, the two even did a joint cover shoot for Vogue – something Swift has never done before or since.

When the two stopped speaking, the ‘Gaylor’ rumours went rampant, with many saying the only reason such a close friendship could completely fall apart the way that it did was if it was more than just a friendship.

Swifites that are on board with the theory have speculated that songs from Swift’s discography such as Maroon, New Years Day and Right Where You Left Me were written about Kloss.

Neither Kloss nor Swift, have overtly addressed the theory, though fans believe that while Swift didn’t name Kloss nor Agron in her note, it’s as good as a denial.
