Taylor Swift Eras Tour Melbourne: Taylor Swift’s dad surprises some fans with VIP upgrades for Melbourne Eras Tour show

Some very lucky Australian Taylor Swift fans got the VIP treatment from none other than the singer’s dad Scott Swift.

Among the extra tickets released on Thursday afternoon for the first MCG concert were some cheaper restricted view tickets but “Papa Swift”, as he’s affectionately known to fans, had a surprise in store.

Radio personality Jacqui Felgate shared a message across her social media, which she’d received from the friend of one such lucky mother-daughter duo, who got upgraded just hours before Taylor’s first Melbourne show on Friday night.

“A good news story out of the MCG,” the message sent to the 3AW presenter began.

“My friend and her daughter had the cheap restricted seats from yesterday’s release and rocked up as soon as the gates opened.

“Sat down and Taylor Swift’s dad went around and handed them wristbands and entry into the VIP section – apparently about $2000 in total value.”

The message continued: “Seriously lucky and how generous and kind is Papa Swift!!!”

The person in the message then said something that sounds like all of us who missed out on the tickets.

“I asked if I could at least get her cheap seats since she got upgraded because I’ve almost sold my soul to get tix,” they said.

Felgate simply captioned the message screenshot with “Wow!” but the post still got more than 16,000 likes on Instagram alone in a few hours.

Swift’s concert at the MCG not only marked her first Australian shows since her 2018 Reputation tour but also set a record as the singer’s largest concert ever, with a 96,000-strong crowd.

It also helped earn the Lover singer the global record of biggest female concert of the decade after breaking Lady Gaga’s 2022 attendance record from her The Chromatica Ball tour.
