Patrick Stewart‘s former partner Lisa Dillon admits she felt “betrayed” and “so angry” over the actor’s portrayal of their relationship in his memoir Making It So.
Speaking to The Times, Dillon, who dated the Star Trek star for five years in the early ’00s, called him out for reducing their romance to a “silly affair”.
In 2003, then 62-year-old Stewart was still married to his second wife Wendy Neuss when he began dating his co-star, 23-year-old Dillon.

In his memoir, Stewart calls his time with the young actress “relatively short” and labels his two failed marriages as his “greatest regret” after also cheating on his first wife.
“The impression he gives is that our relationship was very fleeting – that I was a silly affair that broke up a marriage – and he got caught out,” Dillon told The Times.
“But it’s not just about our nearly five years together – this is the most enduring friendship of my life. Or it was,” she said.
After their breakup in 2007, the pair had remained in touch and friends over the years.
However, Dillon has labelled the actor’s memoir as “shameful” after he also suggested their real-life feelings were confused with acting as lovers in the play The Master Builder.

In Making It So, Stewart recalled being told “if you keep saying ‘I love you’ to someone in a play, you can drift into believing the sentiment to be true.”
“I never imagined he would say that he wasn’t really in love with me, that it was an occupational hazard of being an actor,” Dillon said about the passage.
“I’ve spent 20 years fielding put-down remarks about me in terms of this,” she said about their controversial relationship.

Dillon claimed Stewart’s memoir has “diminished me, both professionally and personally, editing me out of parts of his life.”
The X-Men star’s memoir, released in October 2023, also delved into the breakup of his first marriage, claiming in the aftermath he developed an addiction to sleeping pills.
Stewart split from his first wife Sheila Falconer, who he shares two children with, in 1989 following an affair he had with his Star Trek co-star, Jennifer Hetrick.
Stewart also opened up about the effect the divorce had on their children Sophie and Daniel, calling their relationship a “a work in progress” and revealing his daughter was especially upset at him.
After the breakdown of his second marriage to Wendy Neuss, the actor has since been remarried to Sunny Ozell since 2013.
