No Doubt reunion: Gwen Stefani confesses regret over working with band after having kids

Gwen Stefani and No Doubt may notably be reuniting at Coachella this weekend, but there was a time when the singer says she should have made a Sweet Escape from the band.

On the eve of the rock group’s first performance together since 2015, its frontwoman admitted in a cover interview with Nylon that she should have just been with her three children instead of focusing on her career.

The 54-year-old claims that in working after welcoming her children, she was “trying to please” bandmates Tom Dumont, Tony Kanal and Adrian Young.

The Hollaback Girl singer also admitted that she felt like a “loser” if she hadn’t “come home with a song” after “leaving her family” to write music.

”I’d be like, ‘Oh my God … I didn’t have dinner with my family, and I didn’t write a song,'” she told the publication.

“‘I wasted an entire day of my life trying to be in No Doubt again.'”

Unexpected Happy Days reunion takes place Down Under

Stefani was married to Gavin Rossdale at the time, with whom she shares sons Kingston, 17, Zuma, 15, and Apollo, 10.

Rossdale and Stefani divorced in 2016 after 14 years of marriage, and she’s now married to her The Voice US co-star Blake Shelton.

Stefani continued: ”Things change when you have two babies. … I had no ideas. I had so much insecurity. I felt like – help!”

She confessed that she had “nothing left in” her while the band was touring and working on Push and Shove, their 2012 album.

Stefani said that after Kingston was born in 2006, she felt like she was creatively “dead” and like she had “disappointed” her bandmates when they found out she was pregnant again with Zuma.

“I don’t think they would say that,” Stefani said of Dumont, Kanal and Young. “No-one’s going to be mad you’re having a baby. But while I was busy, they were kind of waiting.”

She ultimately joked with the publication that No Doubt “need[s] to probably” go to therapy together.

Stefani said: “We have a lot of water under the bridge”.
