Nick Shymansky is the influential founder of Day One Music, Film and TV, and was Amy’s manager before her tragic death.
He first met Amy when she was just 16 and helped her release her debut album, Frank, in 2003. They parted ways in 2006, not long before she released her second album, Back to Black.
“It was my job to get her from A to B. If I booked in a session and didn’t literally get her out of bed, in the car, drop her off, pick her up, sit in on the session, it just didn’t happen,” he told The Guardian of their working relationship in 2015.
“We were young, we were kids, we were figuring it out in our own ways.”
Shymansky is played by Sam Buchanan in the new biopic.
